It’s a question that led to the creation of Family Law Assistance 15+ years ago. A solicitor costing around £300 an hour (£250+VAT) is expensive at the best of times…never mind while your living costs are sky rocketing as result of a break up. Often this will only make a difficult situation harder.

We realised there had to be a better way of doing things. So we came up with a new way of doing things.

So what did we do?

Our founders, Steven and Michaela Wade both had personal experience of the family courts and represented themselves after facing spiralling costs, poor customer service and a lack of empathy & help when they needed it most.

Over the last 15 years, they have refined their way of working and built a process that provides people with some certainty around costs, fixed costs for the support they need in a family law court. This, alongside a flexible system that enabled as much help as needed, provided quickly & efficiently and a team of experienced family law specialists who know what to do in order to get you the best possible outcome for you and your family.

Here’s a run down of the differences you’ll find between us and a solicitor:

  • Your solicitor will cost you £300 an hour (£250+VAT); our equivalent costs work out as around £126) – less than half!
  • A solicitor will ask for £600 (£500+VAT) up front for money on account; our up front costs? Zero. We work on a pay as you go system!
  • Solicitors book meetings and other work the old-fashioned way – you call during office hours to arrange an appointment. Us? Book online 24/7.
