The Real Cost of Family Court

The only alternative to a solicitor.
Lets talk about the real cost of family court
I will start by giving you a clue. It isn’t the money. Although the cost of a case can be in excess of 20K just to see your own flesh and blood is absurd.

The real cost is your wellbeing – your physical and mental health.
If you are currently in the middle of court proceeding for child contact, you know how it can have a devastating impact on the lives of all of those affected by it: Parents, grandparents step-parents and all of the other children in the family unit.
This is why it is vitally important for you to priorities your well-being. Remember you want to be the best version of yourself for your child. Consider how much time and energy you use up when you focus on what doesn’t work.
Accepting the reality of your situation doesn’t mean you no longer love your child. It simply means you’re accepting some things are currently out of your control.
A refusal to accept your current situation will result in you reliving the massive injustice and unfairness of it all. Feelings of hurt or anger will only maintain a sense of hopelessness.

Many non-resident parents can spiral into depression, becoming problem focused and loose the ability to see opportunity for change. This is understandable when facing such adversity. However, remaining problem focused will only maintain and deepen your sense of despair.
It is essential you do all you can to minimise the adverse impact that the court process and not living with your child will have on your mental health and well-being.
In order to do this you need the best support and resources you can find.
Maintaining good health can help decrease your stress levels, lower risk of disease, and increase energy and resilience, especially when facing the biggest challenge of your life i.e. to see, love and protect your own children.
I hope you have enjoyed my blog post, I am here to help assist you with your family court journey.
