Family Law Assistance

The only alternative to a solicitor.

Steven Wade is a family law advisor (McKenzie Friend) with nearly 20 years of experience helping people represent themselves in court. Having been through the system personally and supported thousands of others since, he knows what it’s like to face the stress, confusion, and pressure of doing it alone. This blog shares practical insights that empower you to take control of your case — without the legal jargon or the hefty solicitor’s bill.

Amicable Solution

When Claire and her ex-husband, Scott, agreed to an amicable 50-50 split when they divorced, Claire realised that whilst she was home raising the children and Scott was working full-time, this wouldn’t provide her with sufficient income to buy even a one-bedroom flat in their local area, where the children had their friends and family.

As Family Law Assistance went through both Claire’s and Scott’s figures, it was apparent that the 50-50 split would cause more problems than it solved. Aside from the equity in the family home, there were various other assets could be taken into account and Scott agreed to Claire being awarded 60% of the total assets. This meant Claire could buy a suitable home in the local area with minimal disruption for their children. It also meant Scott could buy a new place of his own, and keep other assets that were important to him.

Family Law Assistance drafted up the agreement order, which both were happy with, and the arrangement was ‘rubber stamped’ by the court, making the whole process as smooth and stress-free as possible for everyone involved.

Claire started this process when she clicked our Ask Me Anything link and booked a meeting to start the process!
