Mesdames et Messieurs…We Proudly Present….Family Law Assistance!

Family Law Assistance

The only alternative to a solicitor.

Steven Wade is a family law advisor (McKenzie Friend) with nearly 20 years of experience helping people represent themselves in court. Having been through the system personally and supported thousands of others since, he knows what it’s like to face the stress, confusion, and pressure of doing it alone. This blog shares practical insights that empower you to take control of your case — without the legal jargon or the hefty solicitor’s bill.

Get the bunting out and bang the drums!

Whip out the 4-part harmony Welsh choir (a nod to my Welsh roots)! We have just entered our new chapter. For all of those of you who wanted your voice heard in court – we got you! For all of you who need someone strong, determined and clever – we got you! For all of you who needs to deal with the injustices against you – we got you!

We have always been your arm around your shoulder; the glue that binds and the strategist that just won’t quit. We are the House MD and Walter White in your case (sorry…. I just binge watched these on Neftlix). Roll over Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada and Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games.

We got this! We are the experts in non-legal legal help without the hefty pricetag!

But NOW we have a team who can cope with anything you need dealing with…and then some!

“A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….”

Well… actually in the heart of the Brecon Beacons Family Law Assistance was born around 12 years ago. Steven Wade went through a protracted court case to remain a part of his son’s life and successfully represented himself to achieve a meaningful relationship. It’s true we were a team together going through court proceedings. We supported and helped each other We experienced all of the pitfalls and emotional turmoil that any couple can face during adversity.

When the court case ended and the ink had dried on the order we decided to help other parents who had gone through the same thing. Of course, I was already a qualified paralegal and had earnt my stripes by working in difficult situations. I was previously a debt collect, a benefits review office as well as working with people with learning difficulties (I admit my Maketon sign language is a tad rusty).

It wasn’t long before I was in the Royal Courts of Justice and helping parents all over the country.

Been there. Seen it. Got the Court Order.

That was around 12 years ago now. I often sit and wonder about all the parents we have assisted. Those numbers run into four figures! The strategy needed; the dogged determination as well as the care and conciliation have all been ingredients that became the ethos of FLA. I think about the parents whose first language wasn’t English; the parents who had learning difficulties; the parents who were had already spent in excess of £100k before they met us; the parents whom you see on the telly.

I think of the many parents who walked away because they were worn down by it all.

We have dealt with abductions to Hong Kong; babies taken away from mothers at birth; fathers who have been accused of horrendous crimes as a bar for contact; people who needed protection from abusive partners and people who just wanted what was financially fair in a divorce.

All of them with the same words “If only I had met you sooner”.

“That is not how the Force works”.

I always said that I was not into empire building.

You would not find us marching down to Number 10 in a protest or dressing up as Batman or campaigning for change. There are some amazing charities who do that and we’ve been part of that. But instead we decided to concentrate on helping people on the ground. Most people needed a plan; most people just wanted a relationship with their child. We created regular “Ask us Anything about Family Law” Q&A sessions on social media. We created blogs and vlogs to help the parents who needed everyday advice. We found that people needed not just legal advice but practical advice. We had one parent who had picked up his son and the mother suddenly declared that the child needed hay fever medicine. Of course, all the shops were shut, and he needed to know what to do. He was scared that the mother would, yet again, cease contact.  Another parent wanted to know what to put in a “contact book” (if you know you know). And we’ve had parents calling us while the police are hammering on the door meaning they need advice now.

“Do, or not do. There is no try”

We built up quite the following. People tuned into to our “lives” to hear latest guidance or tips and tricks or just general advice. One day, while I was in court, someone came up to me and looked at me dumbstruck. She said “Are you Michaela Wade? I have watched all your videos!”

I was almost a celebrity. Almost.

I decided to train a select few to do what we did. What we do is life changing and powerful stuff.  What we offer is quite different to a solicitor or barrister, so it needs a specific person – caring, determined, and strong. We are still on the lookout for that right person to add to our family.

We celebrate that you know every detail of your case.  We have that family feel and support that means you are supported throughout every step of the way. It gives us great pride to unveil the new chapter of Family Law Assistance! We have a new stonking website and amazing team that really do have your back!

And we’re looking for people to join the team. Interested? Read more here and call us on 0117 290 0274 and we’ll talk….
